We said goodbye to our beloved summer intern Yancheng Du today and had a farewell lunch at Gertrude to wish him the best before he heads home to Tsinghua University, China, to finish his last year of undergraduate study in Mechanical Engineering and Finance. Yancheng joined the MG task force team in July and has been very productive working together with Jenny and Seungman.
Best of luck and we hope we can see you again very soon!
We welcome Wei-Hung Jung joining the lab of MAFIA. Wei-Hung is a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering. He has been an Orioles fan for years. It is just appropriate that he decided to come to Baltimore!
We ventured to Harper’s Ferry for our first group outing outside Maryland. Despite the 100 degree heat we braved the nature and hiked for a mile with Prof. Sung Hoon Kang and his group.
We had been psyched all week for the outing .

We welcome Debonil Maity joining MAFIA. Debonil is a PhD student in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. He will be working on the collaborative project of exploring the effect of hydrostatic pressure in tissues with Prof. Sean Sun’s group.
We are happy that we are selected for the seed grant from space@Hopkins to study the effects of microgravity on tissue mechanics.

Our collaborator Prof. Sung Hoon Kang, also known as the mastermind of 3D printing in the MG task force, is going away for a short vacation.
We already miss him so we decided to make a card (and stick it on his office door) to show our love and appreciation for being the best collaborator in the whole universe.

We welcome Jennifer Fluornoy, a rising junior double majoring in Applied Math and Molecular and Cellular Biology, joining our lab of MAFIA. Jenny will be working with the joint bio 3D-printing task force. We hope you will have a blast in the lab this summer !
We welcome Brian Kim, a MechE sophomore, joining us at the lab of MAFIA. Brain will be making devices to study mechanobiology. We are excited that he will stay with us during the summer break. We look forward to the fun we will have together, Brian!
